Some nice renders

Hi,

No long and boring programming talk this week, only a few nice images.
You might have noticed that the background of the blog has changed. It now has some good quality renders of the castle, characters and enemies.

These renders were achieved using a very good free and open-source program called Blender. For those of you who don't know it already, go and check its website, especially the features and gallery. And don't miss out on these open movie projects made with Blender: Elephants Dream, Big Buck Bunny, Sintel, Tears of Steel.

In order to import my voxel models into Blender, I quickly wrote a python script which opens a voxel file and generates the corresponding mesh. My Blender skills were a little rusty, but after a few hours of trying things out, this is what I came up with:

Not half-bad, right?

Blender is a raytracing program, so it allows to easily create nice shadows or reflections:

These images might be used later on during loading screens, or they could make nice posters!

Hope you enjoy them,
Nick
